Microsoft SQL Server is a robust, powerful and scalable relational database management system.  We believe that its functionality and value are both best in class, and we use it as the back-end data store for the majority of our desktop and web-based developments.  We are familiar with all versions of the product since SQL Server 2000 and can support legacy systems or carry out version upgrades as required.

Data Storage for Business Systems

Microsoft SQL Server provides an excellent back-end for both desktop and web-based .NET applications.  Its power and scalability make it patricularly well suited for high-volume customer and staff portals.

Data Migration, Integration & Cleansing

We frequently use SQL Server to coordinate the extraction, transformation and loading of data.  SQL Server Integration Services provide a drag-and-drop designer that can be used to build very sophisticated data manipulations.  We have utilised this toolset to move data between various different sources and targets:

Data Warehousing

Microsoft SQL Server provides sophisticated reporting and business information tools that work very well against data warehouses that are optimised for analytical processing.  We have used both SQL Server Integration Services and our own extract, transform and load processes to build and maintain comprehensive data warehouses that consolidate information from many sources and deliver new insights.

Document Storage

When it comes to storing large volumes of electronic documents, a traditional structure of files within nested folders can quickly become slow and unwieldy.  Once the document count gets into the millions, another approach is needed and we have had great success with a SQL Server-based solution, where both the document contents and their related metadata are stored inside database tables.  This system has successfully scaled to store tens-of-millions of documents without any noticable performance degradation.
